The Friedman Well-Being Scale consists of twenty bi-polar adjectives. It is easy to administer, score, and interpret. It can be scored for an overall measure of well-being, the Friedman Well-Being Composite, and for five subscales: emotional stability; self-esteem/self-confidence; joviality; sociability; and happiness. Norms exists for a clinical, college, and community population. It correlates significantly in the expected directions with over 100 clinical, personality, attitudinal, stress, relational, marital and interpersonal scales and subscales. The results can be interpreted in terms of the COPERS model and BETSI-Hi lens of well-being discussed in the comprehensive, professional manual. The Friedman Well-Being Scale can easily be used to track changes over time during psychotherapy or during other intervention modalities such as addiction, self-help groups, personal growth of self-esteem programs, etc. It serves as an excellent outcome measure of change in the current health care environment.

"The Friedman Well-Being Scale can also be used to measure an individuals perceived level of well-being in different contexts, for example, at work, or with a spouse or partner, family members, friends, or during leisure activities. It can be used to evaluate levels of well-being over different time periods, for example a day, a week, a month or a year. Additionally it can be used to rate the perceived well-being of other people such as spouses, partners, friends, children, colleagues, employees etc. In this regard, it could be used to see the level of congruence or incongruence between 2 or more people in their interpersonal perception regarding the well-being variables. Since it is short, easily administered and scored, it has a potentially wide variety of uses limited only by the ingenuity of the clinician or researcher.
